Christian Education Seminar - March 19, 7PM

Please join us for an education seminar on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 7PM at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Steve Labins, Executive Director of the Golden State Baptist Association of Christian Schools will be our guest speaker. We will have refreshments afterwards.

Three Key Institutions

Three Key Institutions

There are three key institutions that shape a child. They are the home, the church, and the school. Children are served best when all three institutions point them in the same direction. As a three legged stool is dangerous and ineffective if one leg is missing or out of place, so is the education and equipping of a child if one of these institutions are at odds with the others. At Lighthouse Baptist School, we point our students toward the direction of Jesus Christ and a life of direction in accordance with His Word.

Preparing Students

Preparing Students

The best preparation for a child to have an effecive, profitable, and God honoring life is to ensure they are very will grounded in God's Truth before engaging the world's culture alone. At Lighthouse Baptist School, our students are taught that the Word of God is Truth. All truth is God's truth. Christian Education is not focused on man's philosophy or mere possibilities but on the certainties found in God's Word.

Education Addresses the Whole Child

Education Addresses the Whole Child

For an education to be considered one of excellence, the process must address the whole child (social, intellectual, emotional, physical, AND spiritual). The spiritual component must be of the nature to instill in the students godly morals and courage to affect their world for good and God's glory. At Lighthouse Baptist School, we offer your child that education of excellence.

"The concept of government control of education has become so accepted in the United States that most people take it for granted. Yet, there is no concept of civil government controlling education in the Bible, in the Constitution, or in the first 75 years of American history. The American people need to rethink the idea that the civil government should be responsible for educating children."

"The problem is not just poor academic achievement, the wasteful spending of the public school system, or the loss of moral standards. The problem is that the government is the wrong agency to be involved in education."

"Some would argue that education is too important to be left up to the public. But, such an argument could also be made about food, housing, clothes, shoes, and transportation. Such an argument is being made about health care. If the civil government was given charge of clothing, freedom would be lessened and special interest groups in the textile industry would soon have a stranglehold on American life. This is why the Founders of our country never considered putting the government in the education business."

"Public education is unconstitutional and inefficient. But, most of all, it is unbiblical."

"All education is religious in nature, even when educators pretend that it is not. All forms of education are based upon a world view. All forms of education try to answer basic questions of life that are religious in nature. In fact, many of the current debates about separation of church and state involve the public schools. The Founders of our republic who authored the First Amendment never envisioned the day when American parents would surrender their educational freedom to the government. Our nation’s original schools were home-based, church-based, or local community-based. The man who gave us the wording of the First Amendment, Fisher Ames, said this about education: "We must keep the Bible the number one textbook in our education, or we will fail without the only source of morality." Benjamin Rush, a signer of the Constitution, is sometimes called the Father of American education. He wrote, "If we allow removal of the Bible from our education, we will see an explosion of rebellion and crime.""

"In Deuteronomy 6:7, the Word of God commands parents to teach Godly principles to their children "when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." Simply stated, we are constantly, consistently to train our children in what is right, wherever we are and in whatever we are doing. In other words, every Christian family should have the conviction of giving their children a Christian education. How can parents who truly love their children and want them to develop a relationship with Christ send these same children to a public school system that undermines everything they are trying to accomplish? Can you visualize the Children of Israel sending their children back into, Egypt to go to school?"

"We believe in Creation. The public schools teach evolution. We believe that God is in control. The public school teaches humanism and that man is in control. We believe in praying without ceasing. Many public schools do not even allow a moment of prayer. We believe in a lifestyle that is pure, holy, and morally right in the sight of God while the public school promotes alternative lifestyles." "What do we, as Christians, have in common with such a place? Can we expect our children to serve the Lord after they have been exposed to such teachings contrary to the Word of God for more than 30 hours each week?"

"Many young people are thankful for parents who removed them from such an influence and placed them in a Christian school. How important it is to be exposed to the Bible throughout one's day, to memorize Scripture, experience daily morning devotions, thrill at the hearing of weekly chapel messages, and be taught by example how to build L and maintain a relationship with Christ. Christian education must continue for generation after generation. What a great blessing it is to have a Christian heritage."

"Each aspect of Christian education should be an extension of Biblical principles. These principles should all work for one common goal: to teach and train young people to be more like Christ. In Proverbs 1 :7, the Bible states "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge." Every young person must be given multiple opportunities to know Christ as his Saviour. Until a student knows Christ, all education is for naught."

"To train implies not only the presenting of knowledge but the practicing of that knowledge. In Proverbs 22:6, the Bible reads, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." A wise pastor once said, "Train up a child in the way he should go, follow it yourself, and he will follow you." How very true! A Godly parent, pastor, or Christian educator understands that training is a living of your faith-a practicing of your belief. If we live a joyful Christian life, we are training our children that living for God is not only right but truly living."

"Young people follow. May it always be said that we led them down the right path."

"What a privilege to be entrusted with the life of a child! May each of us continue to love our Lord and our children enough to sacrifice for Christian Education."
