In the following illustration, try to determine which child best describes your struggling student. A mother told her three children that the stove was very hot and they should not touch the stove or they would be burned. The first child simply heeded his mother’s words and did not touch the stove. The second child was now intrigued by the stove and doubted that he would be burned. After all, how would he know that he would be burned unless he touched the stove himself? So of course, the second child touched the stove and began screaming out in pain.
